Message from the Director

Welcome to the International School of Bremen.

My name is Malcolm Davis and I am the Director of the School. The International School of Bremen (ISB) exists to serve the educational needs of those who live in the Bremen area. Our community is made up of those who work in international business or are looking for an alternative international education to that offered by local schools. People who send their children to ISB value international education and the development of international mindedness.

The school offers education from Early Learning (age 3) to Grade 12 (age 18/19). Essentially the school offers a rigorous academic programme that prepares students for easy access to universities across the world. We value both the breadth and balance of our programmes while not reducing the academic depth. Our programmes are diverse with the Elementary section centring itself on the International Primary Curriculum (IPC). In the secondary school; the International Middle Year Curriculum (IMYC), the International General Certificate of Secondary Education (IGCSE) and International Baccalaureate Diploma (IB) are offered.

Lessons are in English, except for specialist language instruction. We currently offer German at both native and second language level as well as Spanish and French. Specialist teachers for Art, Drama, Music and PE are also available. English Support Across the Curriculum (ESAC) is available to all students Early Learning through Grade 9 whenever the need arises.

The school is located near Bremen University, an easy tram ride from Bremen Central Station.

The school is constituted as a gGmbH (a charitable, non-profit, limited liability company) with self-perpetuating shareholders. The two managing directors, one the school director, are accountable to the shareholders. The school has ersatzschule status granted by the State of Bremen. Parent involvement is through our Parent Teacher Association (PTA).

Please review the additional pages of this website, and if you wish to enroll your child in our school please contact the school directly to arrange an appointment to visit and tour the facilities. If you are an experienced teacher and wish to be considered for any vacancies we have, please forward your curriculum vitae to the school.

Bremen is seen as the "science city" of Germany and its friendly people, good work opportunities and pleasant suburbs make it an ideal location for your children to experience an international education.
