The ISB is one of the leading pioneer schools of the International Middle Years Curriculum (IMYC). The IMYC follows a consistent learning process and structure as it addresses the needs of Middle Years students (Grades 6, 7 and 8) and helps them develop as 21st Century learners.

It is based on clearly defined Learining Goals and standards which outline knowledge, skills and understanding across all of its subjects contained within a single, unifying theme delivered over a single six week period. It provides the opportunity for subject teachers from multiple disciplines to come together as they begin (Entry Point) and conclude (Exit Point) each unit and it provides a cohesive learning experience for all students promoting relevance, engagement skill and subject knowledge acquisition.

Within the innovative approach opportunities are created to teach subjects through umbrella themes. The integrity of subjects is maintained while encouraging trans-disciplinary approaches.

In addition to delivering this essential foundation to learning across the breadth of subjects covered, Learning Goals are also applied to international-mindedness and the personal development students need during their Middle Year experience.
