The library is a central element of the school, both physically and academically, supporting the full range of students, from those starting to read in Early Learning through to IB students not only preparing for examinations, but also researching for their extended essays. Library lessons, which include guidance on accessing, and utilising, the full range of library resources, are an integral part of the academic timetable. Parents and staff are also eligible to become library members and are welcome at any time.

Resources include a wide range of print and electronic fiction and non-fiction; including over 16,00 books in eighteen languages, over 10,00 eBooks and 600 DVDs and CDs. These are all indexed through the online ISB Library Catalogue webpage, available 24/7. The catalogue is complemented and extended through online subscriptions to academic databases, including Britannica.

Computers with internet and network access to the online Library Catalogue webpage are available within the library for research purposes. There are also printing and copying facilities.

Also available, through the online catalogue, is access to the Bremen State and University Library, with access to over 60 million print and electronic items. IB Diploma students in Grades 11 and 12 have access, through membership, to this Bremen State and University Library; only a five minute walk away for world standard, university library resources!

The ISB Library is proud to support Read To Grow, a Netherlands based charity promoting literacy by supplying books to libraries in need in a range of countries. Donations of books, in any language, are always welcome.
